Courtenay first joined DGW Law as a law-co-op student in the spring of 2020 and returned as an articling student beginning in August 2021. She joined DGW as an associate in May 2022.

Courtenay obtained her law degree from the University of Victoria with a concentration in environmental law and sustainability. During law school, she was awarded the JFK Law Corporation Prize in Indigenous Lands, Rights and Governance and the John McAlpine Prize in Civil Liberties and Human Rights. As a law student, Courtenay enthusiastically explored many different areas of law, from working for an administrative tribunal to interning with an environmental and social justice organization in Chennai, India.

Before pursuing articles with DGW Law, Courtenay worked as a government policy analyst on wildlife and habit issues. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where she focused on ecology.

Outside of work, you’ll find Courtenay hiking, biking or at the ice rink – she grew up in the prairies skating on backyard rinks and still enjoys playing, and now coaching, hockey.
